Description

2.1 Procedure section:

Title: A Space for the Metaverse – Virtual World and the transition to Web 4.0
Description: This pilot project will aim at informing the EU policy makers and stakeholders of the challenges and governance needs arising from the development of cutting-edge Virtual World and Web 4.0 technologies, as well as fostering a discussion on global governance with policy makers, civil society, private companies and the technical community. In particular, this project will have a strong focus on the promotion of European-led global standards, and the identification with stakeholders of potential global multi-stakeholder governance models that would allow the achievement of an open, interoperable, decentralised and rights-based Virtual World and Web 4.0. Furthermore, this project will facilitate communication and discussion between academia, policy makers and stakeholders to build a strong and competitive ecosystem toward an open, decentralised, trustworthy European and global Virtual World and Web 4.0 that reflect EU values and fundamental rights.
