Consultancy Services for the Development of the National Adaptation Plan for the State of Qatar

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: GGGI is supporting the national adaptation planning process for the State of Qatar. A critical component of this process is the development of Qatar’s National Adaptation Plan (NAP), based on the outcomes of existing climate risk and vulnerability assessment and identified climate change adaptation measures across the State’s six key sectors namely (i) public health, (ii) water, (iii) energy, (iv) agriculture and livestock, (v) infrastructure, and (vi) biodiversity, designed to address identified climate risks. Overall, this assignment shall help the State of Qatar to reduce its vulnerability to the impacts of climate change, enhance its overall climate resilience, and mainstream climate change adaptation into the broader development planning process in the different sectors and levels. More specifically, this consultancy shall help the State of Qatar to (1) assess and prioritize the identified adaptation measures, (2) Establish the Risk baseline and prioritized actions for Qatar’s NAP in line with broader policies and national targets, and (3) engage with the relevant authorities, agencies, and stakeholders across the six key sectors to support the NAP formulation processes.
