Description

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The project will provide technical assistance to selected Government agencies and non-state actors in the Philippines to integrate further into the international trading systems. The project has three components.
The first will support the development and implementation of appropriate trade policies to allow the country to maximize the benefits from bilateral, regional and multilateral trade arrangements, including the EU-ASEAN FTA being negotiated. The second component will assist relevant parties to adopt or harmonise and comply with international product standards and Sanitary/ Phytosanitary regulations on selected export products and services as well as enhance the capacity of the national accreditation body to carry out its mandate particularly on food safety and medical testing. Finally, the third component will assist the Bureau of Customs to develop a state-of-the-art system of customs clearance and goods transit regime to enhance competitiveness in international trade transactions.
