Project title: BenInnovation-Strengthening the digital tranformation in Benin

Description: Capacity Building for Benin’s Digital Transformation

Detailed description of the project:

The objective of the Beninnovation project was to improve the collaboration between Benin's public and private sectors, thereby promoting innovation and facilitating the nation’s digital transformation. The project focused on strengthening digital competencies among selected personnel in both sectors to better equip them for the development and implementation of e-services.
Capacity building
• The project included a comprehensive training programme that targeted 150 government employees and 100 private sector professionals. Training topics ranged from user experience design, e-governance architecture, to data management and emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence and Blockchain.
• The trainings aimed to enhance the participants' ability to design, manage, and improve digital services, thereby strengthening their role in the ongoing digital transformation process.
Community of Practice (CoP)
• The project established a Community of Practice (CoP) to create a sustainable platform for knowledge exchange, collaboration, and continued professional development beyond the project's lifecycle.
• The CoP served as a central hub for sharing training materials, best practices, and innovative approaches, fostering a culture of continuous learning and adaptation among the public and private sector stakeholders involved in Benin's digital transformation.
Project-based learning
• The project adopted a project-based learning approach, where local IT companies were guided through real-life digitalisation projects. This hands-on experience was designed to build practical skills and generate valuable insights that could be shared within the CoP.
• The learning activities were integrated into the development of new or improved e-services, focusing on user-centric and inclusive digitalisation methods.
Key outcomes:
• Improved collaboration: Cooperation between the public and private sectors in developing and implementing digital services was enhanced
• Strengthened capacities: Digital competencies among public servants and private sector professionals were increased, enabling them to better manage and contribute to digital transformation initiatives.
• Sustainable knowledge sharing: The CoP continued to operate as a vital resource for ongoing knowledge exchange and professional development.
