Description

Challenge: The UP (Pedagogical University) in Mozambique is a public teacher training college for secondary education, with branches in 5 locations. In all courses students follow every year a period of Teaching Practice (in Portuguese called Práticas Pedagógicas or PP). Unfortunately the UP staff is insufficiently trained for PP supervision. The teachers are more subject-specialists than facilitators of a learning process and do not have much experience with guidance of students.

Our solution: A training that was given from a student-oriented and competence-based learning perspective. The focus of the training was on the development of a vision, skills, practical assignments, self-regulated modes of learning and the embedding of PP supervision into an organizational model.
