Type of action: ISF Project Grants
Project ID: 101233994

Objective: The general objective of the European Air-Marshal Network first aims to enhance and augment the operational capabilities of the eight active European units, plus their affiliated four partner and one observer units from non-EU member states and their operators. EIFS has managed to standardize, adapt and in some cases newly create strategic and operational concepts, training curricula and equipment recommendations. With these results, member units have significantly increased their own operational capabilities and contributed to an increasingly robust aviation security network throughout the European Union and beyond. By harmonizing the work methods and tools available for Air-Marshal it also develops the operational cooperation and makes the cross-border law enforcement cooperation more efficient. Reaching out to AirMarshal units outside of the EU member states continues to further enhance cooperation and contribute to a safer EU as the security issues today are a global interest, especially when it comes to aviation security. Next to the development and enhancement of their own capabilities and operational readiness, EIFS is determined to build up cooperation with other specialized law enforcement EU entities closely affiliated with the EU Law Enforcement Networks Working Group (LENWG) and especially contributing to legislative and policy
work in the field of counter terrorism and aviation security. EIFS will retain their agreed structuring into four subject matter working groups (Equipment, Instructors, Tactics, Strategy), focusing on a pillar of EIFS operational readiness and tasked with one of the specific objectives. This structure has proven its practicality as an efficient and institutionalized way to support our specific goals. Furthermore, EIFS will start its efforts to build a first part of the Joint Aviation Security Training Centre- JASTraC - EIFS as its future vision of institutionalizing common training possibilities and initiatives.
