Objective: The project “Unified through Basketball” (UTB) focuses on one of the objectives of the Not-for-profit European Sport Events, social inclusion through sport. Basketball Finland wants to take an advantage of a large-scale sporting event organized in Tampere, Finland in 2025 - FIBA EuroBasket 2025 - to promote social inclusion through sport particularly for those with a higher risk of social exclusion. Thus, the project is designed to organize a series of side activities through the UTB project around the FIBA EuroBasket 2025 targeting specific groups as participants and large population for awareness raising. The UTB project aims to create opportunities around basketball for all types of participants, to boost awareness in regards of the role of sport in promoting social inclusion, and also increase diverse participation in sport, physical activity and volunteering. The project provides opportunities for people with disabilities across Europe to increase their participation in society, showcase their talents and challenge stereotypes. In cooperation with the Ukrainian community in Finland, the project also plays a role in building social and human capital, leading to the social inclusion of immigrants in society.
