Objective
The project proposed entails two project parts, covering Activity 3: New and emerging modes of transport and Activity 5: Road traffic statistics Project A: Improving traffic performance data Improving the level of detail and quality of vehicle kilometer estimates will lead to better emission estimates and enable improved policy making. This project comprises 3 improvements: 1. Developing a method to split vehicle kilometers by type of road 2. Improving our method to split vehicle kilometers by national territory/abroad for public transport buses 3. Developing an imputation technique for our traffic performance statistics Project B: Statistics on active modes There is more and more interest in statistics on active modes, but these modes are not always easy to survey. Especially since walking and cycling are often not the main travel mode of a trip, but for instance are used to travel to and from public transport. This project comprises 4 improvements: 1. Source research walking and cycling 2. Imputation of foot and bicycle trips 3. Break down travel by bicycle into electric bicycle and non-electric bicycle 4. Assigning cycling and walking to built-up and non-built-up areas
