Description
The Program’s purpose was to develop the capacity of Ethiopia’s public and non-state actors in trade policy formulation, analysis of trade issues, EPA negotiations, WTO accession and implementation of the regional economic integration agenda.
The TA contract contributed to achieve the following outputs:
- The establishment of a Trade Capacity Building Unit (TCBU) within the Ministry of Trade and Industry.
- Improved capacity in terms of trade policy formulation, analysis of trade issues and trade negotiations.
- An efficient functioning of the National Development and Trade Policy Forum (NDTPF).
- Progress in the preparation for World Trade Organisation (WTO) accession.
- Improved capacity of the Quality and Standards Authority of Ethiopia, Ministry of Agriculture and regional agencies dealing with Sanitary and Phytosanitary issues.
- Strengthened trade policy research and market access strategy capacity.
