Technology in the Public Interest

The organization is a global multi-stakeholder nonprofit that brings together more than 100 partner organizations from across industry, civil society, and academia to explore and help address the social implications of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies. Through its work, it establishes a common ground between entities which otherwise may not have cause to work together. The organization’s activities are situated across five programs where its partners collaborate including: Safety-Critical AI; Fair, Transparent, and Accountable AI; AI, Labor, and the Economy; Inclusive Research and Design; and AI and Media Integrity. Through each program it identifies emerging trends that require collective action, convenes workshops, produces research, advances best practices within the AI field, informs public policy, and creates greater public understanding about the impacts of AI. The award provides general operating support to the organization.
