Algorithmic Justice League

A project of organization, the mission of Algorithmic Justice League (AJL) is to raise public awareness about the impacts of artificial intelligence (AI), equip advocates with resources to bolster campaigns, build the voices and choice of the most impacted communities, and galvanize researchers, policymakers, and industry practitioners to prevent AI harms. The organization envisions a world where data is not destiny, where algorithmic decisions do not choke opportunities, and where every day people have the knowledge and power to shape AI systems to prevent harm and enjoy the promise of AI. AJL has three areas of work: it engages in storytelling and creative communication to raise awareness about the impact of AI; it maintains the Harms Reporting Tool which aims to capture people’s listed experiences with AI harms, connect them with resources, and identify areas where there are no or few resources; and it advocates for protocols and federal and industry practices that prevent future AI harms and works to ensure that people and communities who have experienced AI harms are acknowledged and seek redress.
