Objective:
The Tripura Forest Environmental Improvement and Poverty Alleviation Society (TFIPS) aims at promoting sustainable forest management in the State with a larger goal of supporting rural livelihoods. Recognizing the crucial linkage between rural livelihood, particularly in forest fringe villages, and the forest resources in the context of the State, the project will specifically focus on the one hand on conservation and development of forests and their optimal and sustainable use, and on the other hand on creation of alternative livelihood opportunities based on local skill and other resources. The project will be implemented throughout the state in selected project villages through active participation of the village community organized in to Joint Management Committees (JFM).
NRMC India’s Role: The role of NRMC India includes:
- Assist the PMU in reviewing and finalizing the JFMC Management Guideline (manual).
- Assist the PMU and DMU in procurement of contractors.
- Assist the PMU in annual planning and report preparation.
- Assist the PMU in fund management.
- Assist the PMU in establishing a fast, efficient and reliable system of reporting of financial and physical accomplishments from the field and disbursement of funds to the field.
- Provide technical assistance to the PMU and the NTFP Centre of Excellence in the areas indicated in the titles of each specialist mentioned in the next section.
- Review, analyze and recommend improvements in existing related policies and guidelines.
Additionally, NRMC India also provided Field Level Coordinators.
