Description

Title: McGill Health Challenge 2008 Think Tank on childhood obesity and a workshop to develop a research protocol on healthy eating and active living

Description: This project will support one conference: Active Living and Energy Balance, and one workshop, the Brain-to-Society Systems Research Agenda Workshop on Healthy Eating and Active Living to Prevent Childhood Obesity. The goal of the conference, which will take place November 5-7, 2008, in Montreal, Canada, is to develop a set of individual and collective actions within public health, land use, business, trade, health and education to establish "health-friendly" local and global platforms for active living and healthy eating. The goal of the workshop complements objectives of the conference -- to collaboratively develop a series of evidence-grounded "rules of conduct" for promoting healthy eating and active living. Deliverables will include a report on conference and workshop proceedings and strategic briefs that will be presented at the general level but customized for different audiences. The grantee will disseminate these products through a network of partner organizations in the form of materials for training and capacity-building.
