Objective :

"Responding directly to the European Union's pioneering AI Act, which mandates transparency and copyright compliance for AI training data, PLAYING G.A.I.M.E.s will develop the first scalable audit system for Generative AI Music Engines (G.A.I.M.E.s). Since 2023, AI-generated music has rapidly evolved, moving from novelty to mainstream, yet questions about training data and copyright infringement persist, as demonstrated by the more than 38 active lawsuits. Many AI companies lack transparency regarding the use of copyrighted material, often citing ""fair use,"" while AI-generated songs increasingly resemble existing works, raising serious concerns about unauthorized training. This project will establish a standardized framework for efficiently and reliably assessing AI-generated music, addressing two critical questions: (1) Has copyrighted music been used in training the AI engine? (2) To what extent do AIgenerated outputs infringe copyright? We will create innovative tools and techniques to audit AI music engines, identify potential plagiarism, and assess copyright infringement, including voice and melody replication. PLAYING G.A.I.M.E.s will foster collaboration between audiovisual actors, music rights holders, and technology companies, establishing a common ground of understanding and facilitating fruitful partnership discussions. We will propose reusable solutions for complying with the EU AI Act's transparency obligations, communicate our findings to the wider audiovisual and music industries, and provide music licensors with tools to engage in licensing discussions with G.A.I.M.E.s. Ultimately, this project will empower broadcasters with the necessary tools and knowledge to make informed decisions, ensuring the ethical and legal use of AI-generated music in European audiovisual productions. By promoting transparency and accountability, PLAYING G.A.I.M.E.s will support a sustainable and innovative music
