Technical Assistance for the REDD+ Capacity Building Project in Sierra Leone

Contract description

Provision of technical assistance to support the implementation of the REDD+ capacity building project in Sierra Leone which intends to establish low-carbon and pro-poor development and achieving environmental sustainability in Sierra Leone.

One of the main expected results of the project is to strengthen the Forestry Division of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Food Security in terms of institutional structure, policy framework, technical capacities, law enforcement capacities and logistical supports as to be able to fully assume its role in the protection and management of forest resources in the country. In this line, the technical assistance is expected to provide organizational development and management support to the Forestry Division and National Protected Areas Authority (NPAA).

Additionally, the technical assistance will directly support the Forestry Division in delivering expected results of the project such as REDD+ policy development, improvement of capacities and baseline data to integrate into a REDD+ system, increase the level of

awareness on climate change, showing the possibility of sustainable charcoal production and mapping the potential of solar power generation.
