Rehabilitation of R16 Balti-Falesti-Sculeni Road: Section 2 km 30+270 - km 59+480, Lot 2

Contract number and name: RSP/W6/03-04 Rehabilitation of R16 Balti-Falesti-Sculeni Road

Description: The R16 Road represents an important link in the corridor traversing northern Moldova from Sculeni to Balti and forms part of the international connection between Romania and the Ukraine. The works is divided into two lots which are to be performed concurrently and comprise:

Lot 2: Starting from the intersection with R17 to Sculeni at km 30+270 and extending some 29.21 km to km 59+480, the road comprises mainly a two (2)-lane, one carriageway, paved road, which follows the existing road alignment, with limited realignments to improve geometric characteristics, eliminate safety hazards, or avoid areas subject to severe soil erosion.
Rehabilitation includes reconstruction of road pavement, demolition of small bridges, reconstruction of bridges,
demolishing and construction of culverts, construction of drainage facilities and relocation of utility lines as required
and also defined in the Drawings, Specifications and Bill of Quantities.
The main works will consist of:
• Rehabilitation of 4 bridges;3
• Some 205,633 m of earthworks;3
• Some 33,660 m Cold recycling of the asphalt concrete pavement;2
• Some 245,104 m Binder course of asphalt concrete M II, thickness 60 mm;2
• Some 242,469 m Wearing course of stone concrete, thickness 40 mm.

Duration: Time for completion is 24 months
