Scope of Contract: Design Review, Detailed Design and Construction Supervision for Mwache Multi-Purpose Dam

The consulting services include detailed geotechnical investigations, final design review and update, tender documentation, tendering and construction supervision of the dam. The dam is a concrete gravity dam 87.5 m high with a reservoir capacity of 118 MCM. The dam is intended to supply 60MCM of water to Mombasa and Kwale Counties and support up to 2,000 ha of irrigation in Kwale County.

The scope of the assignment includes:
(a) Detailed geotechnical and materials investigations which include drilling exploratory boreholes, on site and laboratory test of foundation and construction materials;
(b) Final design review and update of the Mwache dam, which includes, dam geometry, stability analysis, spill way design, sediment flushing, water intake works and dam instrumentation;
(c) Preparation of dam safety, emergency preparedness and operations plans; and
(d) Supervision of the contractors' work and support to all procurement matters related to the project.
