The Queensland Reconstruction Authority (the Authority) was established in the aftermath of the unprecedent natural disaster that impacted Queensland in 2010/211. The Authority was tasked with managing the reconstruction effort and ensuring thet funding, both State and Federal, was allocated and managed appropriately.
Johnstaff was initially engaged by the Authority to implement the value-for-money frameworks which the Authority uses to manage the funding for this major recontruction.
Johnstaff is driving the Value-for-Money and Program Management Teams that support the Authority's senior executive in delivering successful outcomes and maintaining situational awareness. To this end, Johnstaff has worked with the Authority in the preparation of the reports to inform key government stakeholders about reconstruction progress and has also been involved in providing cost management and technical advice to the Authority. This advice strategised the Authority in its work with local government authorities and other state government departments (including Department of Transport & Main Roads), as they developed their estimates for reconstruction.
Program management and project scheduling support at the strategic level has been instrumental to the successful operations of the Authority and has been supported by members of the Johnstaff team. The same team has worked with the Authority on risk analysis and probability assessments of forecast final estimate for reconstruction using systems such as Monte Carlo methods and commercial systems such as @Risk. This data has informed the projected costs for reconstruction over a three year period. The team has also supported the critical day to day work of the Authority in engaging with 73 local government agencies, Department of Transport & Main Roads and other government departments.
Johnstaff QLD Principal, Darren Morgan, won AIPM QLD's 2013 Project Director of the Year Award for his work at the Authority. Additionally, Johnstaff team members formed part of the team that earned a High Commendation for Organisation/Change Management at the AIPM QLD 2013 Project Management Achievement Awards.
