Name of Client: The World Trade Institute

Project description:

The overall objective of the project was to improve the substantive knowledge of experts in the WTO division of the line ministries on SPS/TBT, TRIPS or any other WTO accession-related issue of the beneficiary countries. Provided the governments with a county-specific policy document, which outlines the legal and economic issues of the chosen topic and points the way towards successfully implementing its commitments under the SPS/TBT, TRIPS or any other WTO accession-related issue.

Description of Services provided:

Assisted the WTI in
Component A- Conducting a needs assessment on where each beneficiary county stands in WTO accession or implementation process and what their training needs are on the ATC Program.- Identifying experts in the beneficiary country who can assist the WT in tailoring training courses to the needs of each country and liaison with these experts once they have been identified.
Component B:- Tailoring the residency session to the needs and specificities of the beneficiary countries.- Quality control of the resulting country-specific policy documents, and their translation into Russian and distribution amongst stakeholders in the beneficiary countries.- Adapting the residency session to the evolving needs of the participants during the four-week program.- Evaluating the efficacy and success of the training courses.
Component C- Evaluating the efficacy and success of the consulting service on the work of the beneficiary governments- Fulfilling its reporting obligations to SECO by providing any details the WTI might be missing on the courses, their content, participants, execution and impact.
