Detailed project description:
The Women’s Mentorship Program is an annual one-month training program. The Women’s Mentorship Program’s goal is to enhance the capacity of selected overseas female credit union managers to improve their skills in managing the operations at their financial co-operatives in their communities. The Classroom training at CCA’s office in Ottawa is the first component of the WMP. The classroom training is facilitated by Canadian credit union and co-operative specialists. In past years, CCA has recruited three volunteers from the Canadian credit union system to facilitate the classroom training portion of the program. The second component of the WMP involves each participant partaking in an individual 10-day placement at a Canadian credit union, where they apply what they learn during classroom training and observe the day-to-day operations involved in managing a Canadian credit union. During the credit union placement, participants stay with families/individuals who are connected with the credit unions. This allows the participants to be immersed in Canadian culture.
