About
Airbus Defence and Space
Airbus is an international reference in the aerospace sector. We design, manufacture and deliver industry-leading commercial aircraft, helicopters, military transports, satellites and launch vehicles, as well as providing data services, navigation, secure communications, urban mobility and other solutions for customers on a global scale.
With a forward-looking strategy based on cutting-edge technologies, digital and scientific excellence, we aim for a better-connected, safer and more prosperous world.
History:
In late 2013 Astrium was merged with Cassidian, the defence division of EADS and Airbus Military to form Airbus Defence and Space. Astrium Services, the global provider of satellite-enabled solutions, has announced that it will operate with immediate effect under its new name of Airbus Defence and Space, a division of Airbus Group. The change from Astrium Services to the new Airbus Defence and Space name is part of a rebranding throughout the wider EADS organisation. Earlier this year, EADS became Airbus Group, with three distinct divisions: Airbus, Airbus Defence and Space, and Airbus Helicopters.
The entire Astrium Services portfolio of satellite communications and geoinformation services will continue under the newly created Communication, Intelligence & Security (CIS) business line of Airbus Defence and Space. CIS will also integrate secure land communications and integrated system activities of the former Cassidian organisation of EADS.
Infoterra Ltd. was a wholly owned subsidiary of Astrium Services, and a leading provider of geographic information products, software and services. Our portfolio of geographic information solutions includes airborne and satellite data acquisition, operational emergency planning systems, geo-information creation, database management and outsourced hosting. Infoterra provides geospatial and software knowledge to companies worldwide to help them make informed decisions. We have major customers in public safety, government, defence, insurance, utilities, engineering and oil, gas & mineral exploration.
