Mainline Foundation

Mainline is a platform dedicated to improving the health and quality of life of drug users. Our office is situated in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

For 25 years, Mainline has been providing health education, offering training and a lifestyle magazine, and working with partner organizations worldwide. All of our activities are dedicated to the principle of harm reduction.

Starting principles:
- Substance use is a social phenomenon.
- A drug-free world is a utopia.
- Substance use is the personal choice or actual condition of the individual concerned.
- Mainline does not distinguish on the grounds of gender, belief, race, sexual orientation or attitude to life.
- Every individual user has the right to receive support to help prevent the harmful consequences of substance use as much as possible.

Mainline has a national and an international department:

- Our national team -
works in the Netherlands to reach drug users and provide them with low threshold health information. We are specialised in developing materials based on the real-life experiences of substance users. Our Mainline magazine exists since 1990 and is highly appreciated by substance users in the Netherlands.

- Mainline's international department -
works with local partners worldwide to reach drug users with services that improve their health and decrease the risks of transmitting infectious diseases like hiv/aids, hepatitis and tuberculosis.

Based on our field experience we provide training in both the Netherlands and abroad.
