SISU GLOBAL HEALTH

Sisu Global Health is a medical device company for emerging markets. Sisu is a for-profit social venture that believes that profits are needed to truly scale healthcare impacts.

Sisu has created the Hemafuse, an autotransfusion device that recycles a person's own blood in cases of internal bleeding. This device recently received a Saving Lives at Birth: A Grand Challenge for Development grant from USAID, Gates Foundation, Grand Challenges Canada, UKAID and the government of Norway. Sisu Global Health is commercializing this first device in its portfolio to build a pathway into these fragmented markets.

Each device in our portfolio is creating by conferring with each stakeholder along the value chain including buyers (NGO’s, Ministry of Health, Teaching hospitals), users (doctors, technicians), and beneficiaries (patients). Our devices have been tested over the past five years with the following criteria: (1) safe for patients and clinicians to use, (2) time-saving for doctors and clinicians, (3) intuitive for use and repair, (4) robust in low-resource environments, and (4) locally-affordable for both hospitals and patients.
