GVC is active in Cuba since 1993, implementing humanitarian aid programmes as a result of serious emergency situations linked to the beginning of the special period and, since 1994, expanding its involvement in development projects in various sectors. The interventions of GVC are primarily directed to: emergency and post-emergency actions in response to specific events in areas where we are present; food security with a shift towards sustainable agriculture; supporting and strengthening of cooperatives and associations; promotion of community  structures/spaces and inclusion of vulnerable groups; DRR; promotion of decentralization and self-management of the production system as well as  cooperative management.
