About

The BBVA Microfinance Foundation is a non-profit organization created by the BBVA Group in May 2007 within the framework of its corporate social responsibility.

It is born from the purpose of linking its social action projects with the activity of the financial sector and, specifically, with financial inclusion, offering its 150 years of banking experience in a totally philanthropic way. Productive Finance is the methodology of the BBVA Microfinance Foundation and its group of microfinance institutions, whose ultimate goal is customer development.

With personalized attention that responds to the needs of the vulnerable entrepreneur, they bring a wide range of financial services (credit, insurance, savings, etc.) to their home-businesses. It also includes an integral accompaniment of the client, developing their financial and business culture, through advice and training. The BBVA Microfinance Foundation operates mainly through its microfinance institutions (in which it is its majority shareholder): Bancamía (Colombia), Financiera Confianza (Peru), Adopem Bank (Dominican Republic), Esperanza Fund (Chile), Emprende Microfinanzas (Chile) ) and Microserfin (Panama).

In addition, the Foundation develops initiatives that drive the transformation of the microfinance sector. The BBVA Microfinance Foundation, which currently serves more than 2 million entrepreneurs, is one of the philanthropic initiatives with the greatest social impact in Latin America. The UN has recognized its contribution to the fight against poverty, gender equality and decent work.

The ECOSOC has granted him consultative status, recognizing his work.
