The legal predecessor of ÉMI, the Construction Quality Inspection Institute, was established in February 1963. Today, nearly 60 years later , ÉMI is Hungary's largest building and construction materials industry quality control innovation institution, a key player in the domestic construction industry and its professional intellectual center. It covers its activities nationwide, and demonstrates its experience, knowledge and expertise accumulated over more than half a century, both domestically and internationally.

The operation of ÉMI is still determined by the basic goals of its creation, but at the same time it must also meet the expectations and challenges of the present . Not only does it have to follow the growing trend and trajectory of the domestic construction industry, but it also needs to carry on forward-looking and prepared operations.
