About
The Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO) is a public and monographic center on cancer. It deals with the disease in an integral way as it brings together, within the same organization, prevention, assistance, specialized training and research. The ICO is a public company created in 1995 by the Ministry of Health of the Generalitat de Catalunya, which begins work a year later in the facilities of Duran i Reynals Hospital de l'Hospitalet de Llobregat. Seven years later, in 2002, the ICO Girona was inaugurated at Doctor Josep Trueta Hospital, and the following year, ICO Badalona, at the Germans Trias i Pujol University Hospital. In 2014, ICO Camp de Tarragona and Terres de l'Ebre are being set up at the Joan XXIII Hospital in Tarragona and the Virgen de la Cinta de Tortosa. Currently,
