YIAGA Africa is a non-profit civic hub of change makers committed to the promotion of democratic governance , human right, accountability, and youth participation. YIAGA is driven by its core vision of being a pacesetter organization advancing democracy, human rights, youth participation and accountability in Africa. YIAGA focuses on in-depth research, capacity development, and policy advocacy. Since its inception, the organization has carved a niche for itself as one of Nigeria’s frontline civil society organization promoting participatory democracy, human rights, and active civic participation.
With its operational base in Abuja, Nigeria, YIAGA started off in 2007 as a student association in University of Jos, Plateau State. Since then, the organization has expanded its frontiers to engagement on democracy within the African continent and beyond. Registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission CAC/IT/No.38620, YIAGA seeks to launch itself as a civic hub and an innovative “think and do” tank poised with the onerous mandate of enhancing the quality of democratic governance, accountability and youth political participation in Africa.
