The National Research Institute of Animal Production belongs to the largest Polish scientific and research institutes of national range. He reports to the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development. It was created on May 31, 1950 - under the Regulation of the Council of Ministers - on the initiative of the outstanding animal technician and geneticist prof. Teodor Marchlewski, Rector of the Jagiellonian University.
The subject of the Institute's activity is conducting scientific research and development works in the field of animal production and shaping the agricultural environment. This activity is focused on current and long-term needs for the production of cheap and safe food in animal-friendly and environmental conditions, as well as the use of livestock for biomedical purposes.
