About
Slovenské Ďarmoty village was founded in 1919 by separating part of Ujtelep from Balašské Ďarmoty, after the establishment of the first Czechoslovakia, whose southern border is the river Ipeľ. The first inhabitants of the village, known mainly for wine-growing, bought the vineyards in which they lived from the Hungarians. For this reason, the inhabitants were nicknamed Hungarian "pincések". After independence, the village retained the name "Ďarmoty" and supplemented it by the name "Slovak".
With Slovakia's accession to the European Union, Slovenské Ďarmoty actually becomes a suburb of the aforementioned town of Balassagyarmat, which will increase the dominance of the village. The geographical position of the municipality, which is the intersection of the cities - Nitra, Lučenec, Banská Bystrica, Budapest - represents the important role of the municipality, especially in the area of tourism, given the good relations with neighboring Balašské Ďarmoty in Hungary. Slovenské Ďarmoty village has about 570 residents The village belongs to a warm, slightly dry area.
