DEO - Demokrati i Europa Oplysningsforbundet

The purpose of the DEO is to promote debate and information about the EU. Based on a participatory democratic mindset, we want to activate as many people as possible in a diverse and open-minded debate on the content and framework of European cooperation.

DEO is a nationwide information federation working for democracy in Europe. We are politically neutral, but ask critical questions and put issues up for debate. We work to engage people in EU issues and seek to create the framework for a vibrant and qualified democratic debate.

Our motto is that democracy requires participation. Therefore, our view is also that democracy is something we must practice and invite. It is not just an ideal we work for, but also a concrete practice we work with.

DEO has always been independent of political parties and movements - and we are also independent of EU institutions and organizations. DEO is ready to work with anyone who wants an honest debate on how we can get more people to relate to the EU.

As active, volunteers and employees, we of course each have attitudes, but what concerns us in DEO is to create a framework and conditions for a lively and nuanced debate.
