Associazione Culturale CapoTrave / Kilowat

Capotrave is the name of a mountain in the Apennines, in Tuscany, the birthplace of our company.

CapoTrave is a theatre company founded by Mirco Ferrara, Enzo Fontana, Lucia Franchi and Luca Ricci in January 2003. Since 2009, the group has had its headquarters in Sansepolcro (Arezzo).
Since its foundation, it is recognized by the Region of Tuscany among the most interesting young companies in the regional landscape, and therefore eligible for funding (reconfirmed from 2004 to 2007). In 2010, the Region of Tuscany placed CapoTrave among the top 30 theatre companies supported by regional funding.
Since 2003, thanks to the recognition of the Province of Arezzo, CapoTrave has been a member of the network Rete Teatrale Aretina, which includes eight professional companies operating in the province.
In 2018 CapoTrave entered in the Infinito company, of whom Luca Ricci e Lucia Franchi are now co-directors together with Pierfrancesco Pisani. Infinito is financed by the Italian Ministry of Culture for the period 2018-2020 among the Theatre Production Companies focused on new and experimental Theatre Languages.
Moreover, together with the City of Sansepolcro, the company organizes “Kilowatt: the energy of the contemporary scene,” one of the most important Italian festivals for young groups of the new Italian fringe theatre (and winner of the Ubu Prize 2010).
