About
ARKDR (Association of broadcasters of Kayes for rural development) is an association founded in 1992, as a consequence of the Sahel program initiated in 1982 by the Italian cooperation agencies. Kayes region was proposed by the government of Mali, as one of the zones in which it was possible to initiate an integrated rural development programme. A radio station was to be a channel that would allow the evaluation of the purpose, that's way the Kayes radio station was established. Initially, it was a question of supporting the initiatives of migrant organizations which were the first actors of development. This is how migration occupies a prominent place in its programs.
This association, formed by various organisations associated with the project, united in crisis, crystallised the will of all the partners fighting to conserve this development tool and to continue the actions undertaken.
Program productions of the Kayes Rural Radio are in the fields of economics, health, socio-cultural and literacy.
