Instituto Nacional de Estadística e Informática - INEI

The Instituto Nacional de Estadística e Informática (INEI) ("National Institute of Statistics and Informatics") is a semi-autonomous Peruvian government body responsible for coordinating, compiling and evaluating statistical data for the country. INEI facilitates decision-making through the use of high-quality statistical data and information technology thus contributing to the development of society.

Some of the institution’s functions include developing and assessing the National Statistics and Information Policy and Plan as well as overseeing and coordinating the creation and assessment of sector plans at the regional, municipal and institutional levels, coordinating and/or executing the creation of basic statistics via censuses, sample surveys and public-sector administrative data as well as census mapping and controlling, monitoring and assessing methods, procedures, statistical techniques and computers.
