Rede Nacional de Transporte de Electricidade (RNT-EP)

The Public Company, Rede Nacional de Transporte de Electricidade, abbreviated RNT, EP, was created within the scope of the Electricity Sector Transformation Program (PTSE), under Presidential Decree 305/14 of 20 November, following the provisions of the Angolan Energy Security Policy (PSEA), approved by Presidential Decree No. 256/11 of 29 September.

The purpose of the RNT is to transport electrical energy through the management of the National Electricity System (System Operation), the operation of the Market (Single Buyer) and the operation of the National Transmission Network (Grid Operation), which comprises the very high voltage network (HVN), the interconnection network, the dispatch facilities and the related assets and rights. It should also act as an intermediary entity in the purchase and sale of energy between production and distribution, encouraging competition between the various electricity production centres, in order to minimise the cost of energy production in the country.
