About

Nordic Youth Organisation (NordYouth) is an umbrella organisation for youth organisations, primarily in the Nordic countries, but also organisations in other European countries that wish to co-operate with the Nordic countries. NSU was founded in 1946 with the aim of strengthening co-operation between youth organisations in the Nordic region and to increase young people's interest and awareness of the Nordic countries, Nordic values, the language community and Nordic co-operation. NordYouth realises this purpose by carrying out activities such as youth exchanges, leadership courses, seminars and conferences. The activities are usually held around the Nordic region / Europe and are arranged by NordYouth itself or in collaboration with member organisations and / or other partners.

NordYouth´s vision is, to be platform for Nordic versatile youth work, where competence development, inspiration and insight into current topics are created in an innovative and strong Nordic fellowship.

NordYout´s mission is to:

  • Collaborate and share good practice for contribution to the development of member organisations and partners.
  • Work with a high degree of youth participation.
  • Provide young people with competence and tools to develop themselves and the society.
  • Target issues that concern children, young people and the youth sector in the Nordic countries.
  • Create cohesion and quality development between activities.
  • Strengthen young people's Nordic identity and common fellowship.

The General Assembly is NordYouth´s highest decision-making body and is held every year during a day in January-April. All NSU member organisations have the right to vote at the General Assembly. The General Assembly reviews the past year's financial results, and decides on the next year´s budget and work programme. It also make decisions regarding memberships and elect the Board. When needed, the General Assembly address changes regarding its statues.
