Companhia Estadual de Águas e Esgotos (CEDAE)

Companhia Estadual de Aguas e Esgotos (CEDAE) provides water collection, purification and distribution services. Established in 1975, the organization maintains concession agreements for the operation and maintenance of the state's water distribution systems covering water collection, processing, transportation and dissemination for the state's 64 municipalities, as well as wastewater gathering, transport, treatment and discharge for 31 municipalities.

CEDAE has also created projects such as the Guandu II Complex, a new facility capable of treating 12,000l/s, a treated water lift station and a 57 million liter reservoir which will assist 3 million people in Rio de Janeiro's metropolitan area, particularly the Baixada Fluminense neighborhood. CEDAE's headquarters are in Rio de Janeiro and the state government of Rio de Janeiro is the controlling shareholder of the company.
