Our Mission
Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund (ASB) is a German aid and welfare organization with 16 branches at federal-state level and more than 200 branches at the regional, district and municipal level. More than 31,200 employees and some 14,000 volunteers ensure a quality service in areas such as civil protection, rescue services and social welfare services.

As a non-governmental and non-denominational organisation, ASB has, since its foundation in 1888, represented continuity and reliability 

Using an integrated approach, we provide effective aid and also support the establishment and development of local self-help structures

The ASB Country office in Iraq, Dohuk re -opened in summer 2014 in respond to the crisis. ASB was one of the very few NGOs responding to the sanctions in Iraq from 1991 to 1999. In 2012, ASB was active in the refugee camp Domiz supporting with basic medical care for Syrian refugees. Since August 2014, ASB established its own office in Dohuk and recently implemented projects in the sectors of health, WASH, protection and livelihood for IDPs, refugees and host communities, valued at € 13 million.

ASB expanded its presence to all governorates of Iraq, in 2017, opening one office in Baghdad and one in Anbar, increasing the portfolio of its programs effectively to satisfying the immediate needs of thousands of beneficiaries while responding to the developmental plan of the country.
