About

National Foundation for India (NFI) is a nonprofit organisation founded in 1992. Over the past 30 years, NFI has worked in 24 states across India with over 100 partners to build a plural, equitable and democratic society by promoting social justice philanthropy. The organisation has focused on mobilising resources for grassroot organisations to build capacity and strenghten resilience of marginalised and rural communities.

Since our inception, we have collaborated with individuals and organisations on areas like education, health, livelihood, citizens and society, peace and justice, and urban governance. Our collaborations on various initiatives have responded to the local needs and priorities of individuals and organisations.

We engage with corporates, donors, foundations, and individuals, and encourage them to give grants and make long-term investments in grassroot organisations. We communicate the importance of a CSO's work on social justice, build their capacity in financial governance, and facilitate dialogues between CSOs and donors.
