The VBZ publishing house was founded in 2002 with the basic guidance to present to the Slovene public a recent Croatian literary production. For this purpose, a collection of Selected Works of Croatian Literature was created , which has so far published twenty representative works of contemporary Croatian literature, from works by Miljenko Jergović, Predrag Matvejević, Ante Tomić, Dubravka Ugrešić, Slavenka Drakulić to Marko Pogačar. The collection is the only one of its kind in the Slovenian literary space, thus bringing the local scene closer to the events taking place in the literary scene of the neighboring country and taking care of the literary flow between them.
