Sporting Clube de Portugal also known as Sporting CP , or simply Sporting is a sports club Portuguese in the capital of Portugal , Lisbon . The club's reputation is mainly due to the football department, which has over 97,000 registered support members. [2] The club's athletes and supporters are also nicknamed Leões (in Romanian Leii ).

Over the course of more than a hundred years, the club's teams and athletes have won 50 gold medals at Olympic, world or European competitions, many more silver or bronze, and hundreds of national or regional titles. Few clubs in the world can be proud of such successes. Sporting is, after Barcelona, the club with the most titles in all disciplines in interclub competitions [3] .
