ACA - Catalan Water Agency / Agència Catalana de l'Aigua

The Catalan Water Agency (ACA) is the public company attached to the Department of Climate Action, Food and Rural Agenda of the Generalitat de Catalunya. The ACA was created in 2000 following the merger of the Sanitation Board, the Water Board and the General Directorate of Hydraulic Works and is responsible for the planning and management of water, in accordance with the basic principles of the European Water Framework Directive (WFD). The ACA promotes guaranteeing, now and in the future, the supply, availability of water and its quality at source (groundwater and surface water). Within the framework of its competences, the ACA promotes the sanitation of waste water and the protection and conservation of bodies of water and their associated ecosystems.
