About
Chad is at the centre of a humanitarian crisis. Conflict in neighbouring Nigeria spilled over in 2015, when Boko Haram launched its violent assault in the Lake Chad region. There are now hundreds of thousands of refugees from Sudan, Central African Republic (CAR) and Nigeria in the country. Meanwhile, Chad has as many as 170,000 internally displaced people, uprooted from their homes and livelihoods into makeshift camps.
Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders (MSF) first worked in Chad in 1981. Our work focuses on responding to armed conflict, treating endemic/epidemic disease (primarily malnutrition and malaria), and treating people otherwise excluded from medical attention, including refugees and displaced people
