About

Christian Health Association of Nigeria (CHAN) is a private not-for-profit umbrella faith-based non-governmental organization founded in 1973 by the Catholic Bishop’s Conference of Nigeria (CBCN), the Christian Council of Nigeria (CCN), and the Northern Christian Medical Advisory Council of Nigeria (NCMAC). The purpose of CHAN is to promote continued, effective, and efficient engagement of Church Health Services, by strengthening faith-based health systems amongst its Member Institutions (MIs) towards achieving equitable access to quality healthcare services in Nigeria. It is estimated that CHAN’s MIs together provide health care at the tertiary, secondary and primary levels to over 40% of the Nigeria population. CHAN has strong partnership with ministries and departments of health at all levels (Federal, State and Local Government Authorities (LGAs); and with other civil society, community-based and faith-based organisations. CHAN is also a member of the Africa Christian Health Association Platform (ACHAP).
