The main objective of the mission assigned to the National Institute of Agricultural Research of Niger (INRAN) is to provide scientific and technical assistance to the solution of rural development problems through the organization and development of Agricultural Research. throughout the national territory. Specifically, INRAN pursues the following objectives:

• Knowledge, inventory, study and exploitation of the resources of the physical environments concerned by agriculture and its environment (soils, microclimates, surface water reserves);
• The improvement of plant and animal production of interest to the agricultural economy, including forest and aquatic species;
• Improving techniques for preserving and processing agricultural products into food products for human and animal nutrition;
• The study and development of biotechnologies affecting agriculture, livestock, forestry and related artisanal and industrial activities;
• The socio-economic study of the situation and transformation of the rural world, in particular of agricultural holdings and the economic agents concerned by these holdings and their production.
