About
Instituto Cidades Sustentáveis works for the fair and sustainable development of cities in Brazil. With two main initiatives, the Sustainable Cities Program and the Nossa São Paulo Network, we seek to improve the quality of people's lives by fighting inequalities, promoting human rights, social participation, transparency and protecting the environment. Since 2007, investing efforts to improve people's quality of life, we have aligned our actions with global sustainable development agendas, such as the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), announced by the UN in 2015. In line with this process of broadening horizons, In 2019, we stopped being the Sustainable São Paulo Institute and became the Sustainable Cities Institute. The new name reflects the organization's repositioning and its desire to expand its operations in the country's cities, establishing bridges between municipal, national and global issues. Our visual identity starts from a set of points, which can be understood as the basis of cities, the content of our work, or connections in a network, the way we operate. We then joined five points, representing the five dimensions of sustainable development that must necessarily be integrated: people, planet, prosperity, peace and partnerships. The tenuous differences between the identities are their greatest strength: they are all part of the same idea and the same spirit of transformation towards the city and society we aspire to. We believe that cities are and will be the space for defending and advancing important issues for society and the country.
