The public-private company Aigües de Barcelona, Empresa Metropolitana de Gestió del Cicle Integral de l'Aigua, 70% owned by Agbar, 15% by the Barcelona Metropolitan Area (AMB) and another 15% by Criteria ( ”la Caixa” Banking Foundation), manages the entire water cycle, from collection to purification, transport and distribution, as well as sanitation and wastewater treatment for its return to the natural environment or its reuse.

In this way, it offers service to nearly 3 million people in the municipalities of the Barcelona metropolitan area.
