About
Service with national competence of the General Directorate of Civil Aviation (DGAC) , itself attached to the Ministry in charge of Transport(link is external), the Civil Aviation Technical Service is attached to the Air Transport Department (DTA) and is responsible for technical airport and aeronautical issues throughout the national territory, in mainland France and overseas.
The Civil Aviation technical service intervenes mainly for the DGAC and the Ministry of Defence, but it can intervene on behalf of all the departments of the Ministry responsible for transport and on behalf of other ministries.
The missions of the Civil Aviation Technical Service are carried out in the fields of airport works, installations and equipment, air navigation services, the environment and transport safety:
develop and provide the technical expertise useful for the certifications, compliance checks and monitoring provided for by the texts in force, in particular through audits or technical inspections
approving, certifying or verifying the performance of systems or equipment contributing to safety or security
contribute to the development of technical regulations and standardization, as well as the production and dissemination of best practices, nationally and internationally,
conduct research and experiments,
provide scientific and technical monitoring,
evaluate and promote innovation,
perform engineering services and expertise, insofar as they do not create a conflict of interest with its certification, control or monitoring missions,
In its fields of competence, the STAC leads the technical activity of the State services. He participates :
the animation of the corresponding professional circles,
international scientific and technical cooperation,
to initial and continuous training actions.
