About
The Reclamation of Central Emilia is a public body, was founded in October 2009 from the merger of the Reclamation Consortia Parmigiana Moglia Secchia and Bentivoglio-Enza, and ensures the correct management and distribution of surface water for the protection and development territory.
In the plains, the works of the Consortium guarantee the correct flow of rainwater, through their collection, removal and disposal and also ensure the protection from flooding of the waters coming from the territories located further upstream. Also due to the increasing urbanization of the territory and the ongoing climate changes, this activity is essential to guarantee the buildings (land and buildings) located in the reclamation area from possible flooding.
In the summer period, the reclamation also distributes water for irrigation and environmental purposes, to an area of about 120,000 hectares.
In the mountains, the Consortium carries out interventions against hydrogeological instability (consolidation of landslides and regulation of natural rivers) and on minor roads to maintain the efficiency of public infrastructures at the service of the buildings.
The Consortium inspires its work on the principles of sustainable development, because it recognizes the protection of the natural environment as being of fundamental importance in the process of economic and social development of the territory, and pursues eco-efficient and safe behaviors for operators and consortium members, according to the principle of continuous improvement. This is done in compliance with the legislative provisions, the guidelines prepared by the institutional bodies, compatibly with the tasks and functions of the Articles of Association, which the Consortium is required to comply with.
