Simosol Oy- We began our journey with planning. In 2004, efforts were pooled within the Finnish forestry sector to create the next generation planning system for forest management. The system relied on a combination of simulation and mathematical optimisation, and resulted in the open source SIMO framework developed at the faculty of Forestry of the University of Helsinki. Later in 2007, Antti, Jouni and Jussi (the project researchers) decided to establish Simosol to continue developing a strong base for the next generation planning systems. We started to implement simulation and optimization based planning systems across the Finnish forestry sector. From those beginnings the company has grown to extend the software and analytics offering to other countries in Europe, the Americas, Africa and Asia. We also kept in mind the big picture of sustainable bio-economy and extended our offering to cover also mapping and monitoring.

Our Natural Climate Solutions solve forest-climate puzzles by integrating climate impacts to the core solutions of Simosol, building on more than 10 years of experience in knitting together modern IT technologies and forestry.

Our purpose is to enable Smart Forestry for People, Nature, Climate, and Future. We provide our clients with forest planning and optimization tools that enable them to cover all business objectives in their sustainable decision making processes. Our dynamic carbon modelling platform is widely used by investors and large forest owners for integrating carbon into forest value chains and management strategies.

Our mission is to accelerate conversion to a renewable-based world while protecting natural forests.
